Description
THE ROAD TO MODERNITY
Art and music between Paris and Barcelona
At the beginning of the 20th century, Paris was the cultural hotbed of the artistic avant-garde. Paris became the ultimate city for countless artists, who came to the French capital in search of new stimuli, and of fame. Pablo Picasso, but also the lesser known painters, such as Ramon Casas or Santiago Rusiñol, found in Paris the fertile soil in which to develop their work. What did life in Paris contribute to their art? How did they influence the French art scene?
Chief Curator Edwin Becker of the Van Gogh Museum will stroll with you through the streets of Paris circa 1880-1920.
The Fat Lady offers a musical perspective of the road to modernity…
You will be treated to music by De Falla, Granados, Albeniz, Debussy, Ravel, Poulenc, and others.
